Terna Forward and BF Educational Invest in Hypermeteo’s Weather and Climate Innovation

Terna Forward, the Terna Group company dedicated to Corporate Venture Capital, has led a capital increase in Hypermeteo, alongside existing shareholder BF Educational, a company of the Bonifiche Ferraresi Group, with investments of €1 million and €300,000 respectively.

The transaction confirms the technological and business path developed by Hypermeteo: transforming high-quality, scientifically robust weather and climate data into concrete operational tools for climate risk management and for supporting climate adaptation processes across various industrial sectors, from energy to infrastructure, from insurance to agriculture.

At the core of the technologies and solutions developed by Hypermeteo and Radarmeteo is a strongly observation-driven approach and the enhancement of an extensive historical data heritage, integrated with deterministic models and proprietary Artificial Intelligence algorithms. This makes it possible to produce high-resolution weather and climate datasets and scenarios that accurately represent real local conditions and can be directly integrated into companies’ decision-making processes.

The collaboration between Hypermeteo and Terna has been active for some time and involves the provision of high-resolution data, models, and scenarios to support forecasts of electricity demand, power generation, and weather-climate risks that may impact the national electricity infrastructure. Terna Forward ’s entry into the company’s capital further strengthens this shared vision of the Radarmeteo and Hypermeteo team, aimed at making climate an increasingly measurable, predictable, and integrated variable within corporate decision-making processes.

The new resources will enable us to accelerate the development of vertical solutions in our key reference sectors, improve dataset quality (also through the integration of new observational sources), and initiate the process of expanding datasets at a global level, while consolidating our technical and commercial leadership in the Italian market.

In the coming months, the main developments of this journey will be shared, with the objective of building, together with our partners and clients, increasingly effective solutions to manage climate complexity through high-value and highly representative data.

“Terna Forward’s entry and the strengthening of our partnership with the BF Group represent for us a first, crucial strategic step in our ambitious growth path,” said Francesco Dell’Orco, co-founder and CEO of Hypermeteo. “This transaction consolidates our existing industrial collaborations, allowing us to accelerate the development of solutions that are increasingly integrated into our stakeholders’ decision-making processes.”
